Students make and sell T-shirts to raise money for fund memorializing the two sisters, who had attended school there. The undertaking is successful and the Julianne and Emily Hendrickson Fund for Children is born.

The Julianne and Emily Hendrickson Fund for Children teams up with LongAcre Expeditions, a Brielle, New Jersey-based company specializing in adventure travel for teens to offer a week-long experiential learning trip for disadvantaged kids.

The Fund “adopts” students from the Academy Charter High School (ACHS) in Lake Como, New Jersey as participants in the first Fund-supported adventure.

The meditation garden is officially dedicated to Julianne and Emily with acoustical guitar music and poetry readings in the garden. A Family BBQ, Silent Auction and live music follows at Bar Anticipation. The event raises nearly $30,000.00.

More than 500 people participate in what is hoped to be the “largest hokey-pokey ever”. Proceeds go directly to the Julianne and Emily Hendrickson Fund for Children. The Hokey Pokey raises approximately $3,500.00.

Lavendar Moon hosts “Jewels and Gems of the Jersey Shore”, a seven-hour musical showcase featuring young local musicians with featured guest Eric Ginsberg. The teenaged friends of Julianne and Emily organize the event. Donations total more than $840.00.

30 students from ACHS take a trip to Eastern Mountain Sports in Eatontown, NJ, to get fitted for hiking boots for their upcoming outdoor adventure with LongAcre Expeditions.

Departure is planned for the first Fund-sponsored trip as 30 incoming Seniors from ACHS join Longacre Expeditions for a week spent hiking the Appalachian Trail and working on an organic farm.
